Long overdue updates!

Hi all,

Time has passed and “what has Johan been up to?”, you may wonder. Well that’s why I’m here now, I’m back to bring you up to date with the recent happenings in my professional life!

After spending some time in San Francisco and New York early 2013, I accepted a job as Videographer/Photographer on board the MS Nieuw Amsterdam, the largest cruise ship in the Holland America Line fleet. I spent nine months travelling around the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, taking pictures and filming a wealth of fantastic locations. (Stay tuned, photos will be uploaded soon enough!)

As my contract ended, I set off for Peru, where I spent an unforgettable month exploring the cultural, historical, geographical and spiritual depths of this awe-inspiring country. (Again, pictures will follow!)

Back in London, in the spring of 2014, I slowly started making my way into the world of freelance video production. I have since then had the opportunity to work with various media companies, such as Silverfish Media, Dennis Film and M&C Saatchi. My roles have ranged from Shooter/Director and Editor to self-contained Video Producer, working on a variety of projects for clients such as EVO magazine, UK Labour Party, CarBuyer and Ballantine’s.

My current primary client base consists of nonprofit organisations and international clients in the healthcare sector, for which I create—from start to finish—10-15 min long promotional documentaries, on behalf of the National Health Channel. I particularly enjoy working for the charities, as I feel that I can help get their vision and passion across and contribute to raising awareness, which—I hope—will eventually help those in need.

As an example, below is a film I made for Africa Health Placements, “a South African-based social profit organisation working to address the extreme inequities in access to healthcare through human resource solutions”.

Until next time, keep your eyes peeled, as more of my material will soon find its way into your retinas! 🙂

Sunday the 17th of June will kick of this year’s BA(Hons.) Contemporary Media Practice degree show with a screening of students’ moving image work at Roxy Bar & Screen near London Bridge. The event will continue with our exhibition at Ambika P3 gallery in Marelybone from the 18th to the 20th, to conclude on Friday the 22nd with a grand final film screening at the famous Regent Street Cinema—the birthplace of British Cinema.

This will be an opportunity to see all the course’s students’ Major Project work, from photography to new media and moving image—including TYU’s Company which I produced.
